Monitor showed contractions 2-4min apart BUT...

I went into L&D last night after 3 hours of bad menstrual-like contractions and tightning in my upper belly. The nurse said the monitor was showing contractions 2-4 minutes apart, however my cervix was not any more dilated than at my doctor appt the day before so she said I could either walk the halls for a few hours and get checked again, or go home. I opted to go home... Woke up this morning and the contractions are gone. WTH?

I'd say it's the first time mother thing.....  Except you're not a first time mother!  Maybe it's just pre-labor, and you will be ready in a day or two.  Good luck!!

My first time around I went through that type of stuff for a few days.  They would be bad for a while and then would go away.  I ended up being induced in the end, but when I showed up for the induction I was at 4cm which really helped for a speedy delivery.  Your body is probably just making it's mind up what to do ;-)

Same thing happened to me a week before i delivered... Your body will do all kinds of things in preparation. This time around I'll know to wait until the contractions start to become painful, not just uncomfortable. But i stayed at 1 cm from about a week and a half before delivery until about 2 hours before the baby was born (jumped from a 1 to an 8 within an hour! Missed the epi)... I was told i had a "stubborn cervix", so hoping this time around it dilates much quicker, because that was a whooole lot of pressure and the sucker was just not opening last time.
