Hospital bag and carseat in the car?

What is the latest you would recommend packing the hospital bag and installing the car seat?

Well I'm a bit of a procrastinator... I went into PTL at 32 weeks and was put on bedrest and Procardia. Been off of it since 35 weeks and still have no bags packed and the carseats are on the kitchen table. Lol. I do plan on packing the bags this weekend though but mostly because I'm scheduled to be induced on Monday morning! (I have GD).

I had issues with PTL since about 32 weeks... I've been off procardia since 35 weeks and I put in the car seat and the hospital bag in the car last week when we went to L&D... otherwise it would all probably still be sitting by the front door.

The car seat we'll probably do this weekend and the bag probably next weekend.

The bags I packed last weekend and they're sitting in the baby's room with the car seat. DH is off work tomarrow so we'll probably put the car seat in then.

Because this is our first child my DH put the car seat in when I was about 24 weeks. We packed my bag about 3 weeks ago and put it in the car and my DH bag we put in 2day all because our LO was cutting up this morning and we had to go to LD. But were all set at 32 weeks. I would put it in just so u don't have to worry bout it but then again someone can always go back and get things if you forget.

I keep putting this off even though I had PTL issues. lol I would do it by 36 weeks, provided your pregnancy is going like normal. At least you will know it's done and not something you need to worry about. Plus you can practice putting the seat in and and out of the car.

I have packed my bags with a few necessities and plan to finish over the next couple of weeks.

Car seat went in yesterday so I can take it this weekend to be inspected as this is the last local clinic being held before my due date.

My bag is backed, but the car seat will have to wait until after Christmas, we need the room for all of DS toys that grandma has bought him.

The car seat base is installed in the car, but the seat itself is still in the house. We live close enough to the hospital (and I'll be there for a few days after my c-section) that it won't be a problem for Daddy to bring it later. Plus, the car seat has pink on it and while I'm Team Pink and big sister is Team Pink, Daddy wanted to be Team Green and the pink car seat will totally tell him what kind of baby we're having! The bags are already packed, but we won't keep them in the car, they'll come with us when we go to the hospital.

This is one thing I don't worry about. We packed a few things while running out the door last time. DH did not pack anything . His mom brought him a change of clothes when she came up to the hospital to visit. I only stayed in the hospital one night so that made it easier too. This time we are only 3 blocks from the hospital so probably will be even more lazy about it then last time.

I'm probably packing the L&D bag sometime this weekend, i hit the 34wk mark on friday and thats when they dont stop things anymore. I did 2 bags last time, one for L&D and one for recovery. So the simple stuff like snacks, distractions and what not will be ready to go, but probably sitting next to the back door. The second bag i'm not worried about, i live 7 minutes from the hospital, MIL will be at home with DS and DH will run back and forth a few times i'm sure. So recovery stuff probably wont get packed till after christmas. (oh same with the camera, cause you know, christmas with a 2 yr old!)

The carseat has been in my car for quite some time, simply because there is no room for it in our apartment. As for the hospital bags, I have yet to pack them and when I do I'm not going to put them in a vehicle, I'm leaving them in the closet next to the door so DH can grab them when we leave. Knowing this pregnancy brain I probably will forget to fill up my car's gas tank and it will be sitting on empty when I go into labor, so we will end up having to take DH's truck. LOL. If need be, one of our family members can bring our car up to the hospital and drive the truck back home. NBD, I guess.

We put the carseat base in the car around 35 weeks.  The carseat itself is still inside and will be until it's time for LO to come home.  (We're only about 15 minutes from the hospital.)  My hospital bag got mostly packed by about 37 weeks, but it's still missing some last minute stuff.  I have a list in the bag of stuff to grab right before going to the hospital (like phone chargers and things).

I packed part of my bag last night.  Mostly just my travel stuff, extra chargers and things of that nature.  I haven't thrown in the clothes yet because I'm only on week 37 and I don't foresee him coming this early.  I figure one I start feeling contractions that are actually recordable I'll grab something out of my closet to throw in there.  

LO's bag is pack simply because it can be and I don't have to wait to put anything in it.  It's pretty much his take home outfits and a couple blankets sine south Texas weather is unpredictable.  Figured I should have options.  

His car seat is in DS1 open play room which is by the front door.  That won't get put in until we leave for the hospital.  DH can strap it in before we leave the hospital with LO.

We packed our hospital bags at 34 weeks & installed the car seat bases at 35 weeks.

The bags are still in our room with a short list of last minute things to add. The car seat carrier is in our house, we'll grab that on our way out the door. (we didn't want to keep it in the car in case we were to get into an accident before the birth, voiding the car seat.)

We're doing both this weekend, but it's because I'm being induced next week.  We had originally planned on installing the car seat last weekend but ran out of time.

Wow! Thanks ladies. My last baby I delivered at 36 weeks. I too am already having PTL so I thought I should get it done sooner then later.

I packed my hospital bag at 36 weeks and installed my car seat this past weekend at 38 weeks.

My hospital bag is packed except for the last minute things I still need so I could easily tell H what is left to grab.  But I will probably pack it completely starting the week after Christmas because I have GD and will be having NSTs and my doctor told me if I have any issues with the NST I will be sent straight to the hospital, which is attached to my doctor's office.  So I will leave my bag at home so H has to grab it which is inside the carseat so he can't forget one without forgetting both and I will be able to remind him. 

I have it packed so I don't have to think about that stuff while trying to get DS situated or figure out who will pick him up, if they have a carseat, pack clothes for him and toys for wherever he will be until DH can come home after I deliver and stay with DS.  Either my mom will stay at the hospital with me and DH will come home with DS or my mom will have DS and DH will stay - it depends what DS wants.  If he wants Daddy he can have him since his little world will be pretty crazy after baby brother is born. 

I will probably want to put the base in the car within the next 2 or so weeks.  Maybe the week after Christmas.

Well with DS my water broke 10 days before the due date and I wasn't even packed!  So I will be ready at least 2 weeks before....probably 3 weeks before the due date this time.
