Was your LO sunny side up when you were trying to deliver? If so, was this a reason for you C-section? I pushed for 3 hours and he wasn't budging - during the c-section, we find out it was because he was face up in the birth canal. Thanks
Yep, same thing happened to me. Pushed for 3 hours and ended up with a c/s. Found out DS was sunny side up and wedged very far into my pelvis. He was born with a huge bruise and blister on the top of his head that took over a month to heal.
Yep. I pushed for an hour or two, didn't really make any progress so we did a c/s. My doctor discovered then that she was OP. C/s rates are significantly higher with OP babies.
My son was positioned correctly so I had no problems delivering him vaginally.

DD1 was sunny side up. This position and her size (she was 8 lbs 12 oz) made her get stuck in my pelvis. I think that since she was stuck, she couldn't put pressure on my cervix, so my "official" reason for the unplanned c/s was that I failed to progress. I was stuck at 9 cm with an anterior lip even after being on pitocin for a few hours.
eta: I never made it to pushing, but during the c/s, the OB had to push her back up into my uterus in order to deliver her. There was no way she was coming out vaginally. She still has the indentation on her forehead from my pelvis (its noticeable when she scrunches up her face) 4 years later.

Mine was sunny side up and the cord was wrapped around his neck. I think that was why he wasn't descending...I never dilated passed a 4. It took 3 people to push on my me to get him to drop far enough down for them to get him.
same thing here- three hours of pushing, no progress, c-section. This is relatively common, especially in the supine position physicians tend to make you stay in.
after 6 hours of pushing and 4 failed vacuum attempts, they finally did the c-section on me and found that my daughter was sideways (transverse breech) once the opened me up. that was why she failed to descend.
Yes, this is what happened to me:( the nurse told me I wasn't trying hard enough and when he was finally delivered he had bruises all over his poor skull from my pelvic bone.
My DD was sunnyside up too. I had to get a c-section for a variety of reasons. To begin with my DD's heart rate dropped each time I had a contraction, and this was going on for hours. It started to get quite concerning. The second reason was because I stalled out at 8cm and had to be taken off the pitocin because of her heart rate drops. She wasn't really descending either, but that didn't become a concern because I wasn't even dilated enough. When they did the c-section they realized she was sunnyside up, and had a long umbilical cord which was getting compressed with each contraction. HTH.

My DS was sunny side up. I had been pushing for hours. We knew and we tried every position possible to get him to turn around, but know luck. It was also discovered that I have a narrow pelvic arch. Even with my LO being only 7lbs 3oz, he wouldn't come out. He had a red line on his forehead from being stuck. Apparently a nurse had to shove her fist up my vagina to get him out. I was sleeping, thank goodness. I wouldn't have wanted to be awake for that. His heartrate dropped too. They had him out in 3 minutes. I don't know if it was considered a emeregency c section or not, but it was definitely necessary.
I pushed 4+ hours with DS1, and ended up with a c-section bc he was OP. He had a big huge bruise on his head from all the pushing, too. For me, it was all positioning also, as I had a successful VBAC with DS2,who was 2+ pounds bigger than his brother.
DS was OP. I labored for 60 hours, and pushed for 2.5. He never descended. My midwife also tried to manually rotate him, which hurt like whoa. I know that having an OP baby increases the likelihood for a c/s, but it certainly doesn't doom a person. Another couple in our childbirth class ended up with a sunny-side up baby and the mother delivered vaginally.
Yup, LO was sunny side up. My pelvis is also very small so LO was never able to drop. I pushed for an hour and a half, but LO's heartbeat kept dropping during a contraction.. it even went below 70bpm for a little while. Doc said it was no longer safe for me to push so we had to do a c/s.

I am hoping for a VBAC if I have another child. I am glad to see yours was successful. :-)
I had stalled out at 9cm for about 4 hours. They found out that there was a lip of the cervix that he couldn't get past. We tried to push for an hour but he wasn't going past a station 0, +1. In addition, to not being able to get past the lip of the cervix, he was sunny side up. The dr told me I could push for several more hours to see what would happen or I could move forward with the c-section. Even with pushing, I would still have about a 75% chance that we would end up having a c-section. DH decided to have the c-section. As they were prepping me and getting the next shift informed of what was happening, the baby's heart rated dropped and we ended up getting wheeled into the operating room immediately. We had two shifts of doctors and nurses in the operating room taking care of us. Being sunny side up, his size, and drop in heart rate, were our reasons for moving forward with the c-section.
Add me to the list of OP babies that led to C-section. I labored for 40 hours, pushed for 2.5 before my OB said it was probably time for a C/S. In the moment, I was in so much pain that I quickly agreed. I had an epidural but it wasn't helping the intense tailbone pain.. turns out she was OP, and big, 9 lbs, 2 oz. She also had bruises on her forehead. My OB tells me that at least for her, most OP babies larger than 8.5 lbs end up in a C/S.
