Help with sleeping!

I am about to lose my mind here! Last week we started allowing LO to cry it out in her bed at night. The first night was terrible, but it slowly has gotten better. UNTIL the last few nights. She refuses to sleep and nap. The only way I am sometimes able to get her to sleep is letting her nurse. But, then I go to lay her in the crib and she wakes up immediately. I then let her cry thinking she will fall back asleep, but she doesn't.

Last night I was so exhausted I just put her in the bed with me and she basically stayed connected (nursing) all night. So of course I am sore as can be and still sleepy. She woke up every hour even being in my bed. When she was sleeping she made noises constantly and seemed to be so restless. I do not like putting her in the bed with me and do not want this to become a habit, but it seemed to be the only solution last night. I have tried taking her for a car ride, she falls asleep rather quickly but as soon as I get her out of the car (she's still in car-seat) she wakes up.

I guess my questions are - why have her sleep habits turned like this? What do I do about it? And what can I do about her becoming such a light sleeper?

I work one afternoon per week and take her with me. Today is our working day, and I am about to call in. I just don't see it being a productive day with her having to be constantly nursing or sitting with me.

  • I wish I had a good suggestion for you but sometimes I think there is nothing you can do and that its just a phase they go through.  My LO was perfect and sleep through the night with no issues until about 2 months ago, now she wakes up constantly wanting me to flip her from her tummy to back or put her paci back in her mouth.  Thankfully she goes back to sleep quickly but I never get more then an hour or two of sleep at a time :(
