3rd Trimester

This really p!sses me off!

my MIL asks how I am feeling and I told her I haven't been sleeping well because of pretty intense back pain... her response was "oh wait, it's going to get worse".  Angry

  • Ha! MILs are so encouraging aren't they?!  I hate the "oh just wait" comments too (among others).  Every pregnancy is different I don't care how many kids your MIL has had... it can be completely different for you!

  • I always just tell my MIL that I'm fine whenever she asks because I know she's going to come back with some stupid response if I tell her what's really going on!
    Married 08.06
    Started TTC 05.08
Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

  • I HATE those comments, no matter who they come from!

But I think it's even worse when they're from girls who are my age (19-20ish) and think that just because they've had ONE baby, that makes them an expert on pregnancy. It's so frustrating!

  • My MIL is a nurse so she thinks she knows everything! So I do the same as the previous poster and just tell her I am fine. I try to avoid her as much as possible.
  • i slept better after my children arrived >_>

  • My DD was a great sleeper!  I even had to wake her up to feed her because she would just sleep all night if I let her...so if anyone says that to me (I haven't had the pleasure yet haha) I'll just tell them that!  People just think they know everything when it comes to babies/pregnancy for some reason.

  • Ha! My grandma says this to me every time I mention ... anything. I know she's not doing it to be mean so I kind of just blow it off. OR I'm overly positive about how I'm feeling and how things have been going.

  • Same here...  We've had a few scares during the pregnancy (Baby had a possible brain issue and we had to get fetal MRIs and all this craziness; I've been getting biweekly ultrasounds to monitor his situation... so far so good), but all the IL's know is that the pregnancy is going great and I have no problems at all!  MIL tries to get more info out of me (even asking exactly how much weight I've gained - uhhh... enough) but I always deflect.

The other day, FIL said, Wow, this has been so easy for you, you should just keep having them!  LOL.

  • I was just venting to DH about this. So annoying when you have a legitimate issue and someone brushes it off with a 'oh, you don't know anything yet' attitude.
