3rd Trimester

Need Advice Stat

Ladies-

I was walking on the treadmill about 30 minutes ago and I felt this gush of water. I ran to the bathroom. It was not a lot but it soaked my panties. It is clear and has no smell to it. Since then I have been "wet" (same consistency, smell, and color) but not consistent dripping. It is almost 10pm where I am and I don't want to head to the hospital with it being nothing. Could I just wait this out. What are signs I should look for? OR should I just go in and confirm. I am having mild crampling paired with lots of pressure.

  • I never understand why we Bump gals are a better source of advice than your OBs oncall line...call them...sounds like water breaking to me, but why on earth risk it?

  • I would definitely call the after hours number for your doc/midwife. Sounds like it could be the real deal...any contrax coming on?

  • Call your on-call dr, like pp stated. They can tell you what to do, and honestly, I'd probably go in. You're at the point where you could be in labor and it may have been your water breaking.

  • um, let's see. full term and gush of clear discharge? I wonder what that could be...

Call your OB, but if you're not contracting, I wouldn't go in yet. Wait a few hours, just get there within 12 (then you'll have 12 hours to deliver)

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • Sounds like your water broke.  When mine broke with my first baby I called the on call doctor since I wasn't having contractions yet and he asked why I had to call...said I needed to get to the hospital.  I'd say it's time to go!
