First IUI and HPT?

I had IUI #1 on 11/28. I used Ovidrel 250 for a trigger on 11/26. I am scheduled to go to RE on 12/12 for pregnancy test. Should I use an HPT before my appointment? I am concerned about the possibility of a false positive. I am also concerned about keeping my hopes up and then having a big let down when RE's office calls. Thanks!

My RE's office doesn't even bring me in without testing at home.  However, they tell me to wait two weeks from the IUI date.  When I had my CP I tested on Tuesday instead of waiting until Friday, and the nurse wasn't sure if it was a false positive from the trigger shot.  When it was still positive on Friday, then she had me come in.

I would say try to wait until as close to the RE's test date as possible - even if it's that morning.  GL!

My RE is the same as PP. We didn't do a beta unless I had a HPT first. I never made it to 14 dpIUI (which was when I was supposed to test). I did always test out my trigger though. I'm a bit obsessive about POAS.
