Whats your sex drive like?

 

I've read that intercourse can induce labor and that thats just a myth.

But I also heard that nipple stimulation can induce labor.  By nipple stimulation do they mean any kind of stimulation (ie.  sexual) or are they talking pumping?

Zero sex drive...but using my husband for his sperm...which can help dilate and efface...not induce.

Sperm has a chemical in it that helps soften the cervix, and for some people orgasming can bring on contractions.

By nipple stimulation, I think they mean pumping. But even if it starts contractions they usually often stop.

Sex is the only thing I've heard of that actually helps move things along naturally.

I still have a sex drive, we have sex about once a week.

Yes, we were last time.  sex or orgasm can lead to contractions and semen can help the cervix ripen.  So, while it may not make you go into labor right then, it might help things along in getting ready.

Also, for nipple stimulation, I just did manual myself. not sure if it is coincidence, but I did the it the night before going into labor.

On the show "Up All Night" the mom said it best "I find sex borderline revolting". LOL  I was put on pelvic rest then bedrest due to placenta previa and a bleeding episode so we went about 5 weeks without. When I was taken off bedrest we tried one time and it was really uncomfortable. I don't remember it being that uncomfortable in prior pregnancies.

No sex drive here either .. but after much complaining from DH I gave in today and we did it. I'm just so sore afterwards (lots of pressure) but thought what the heck and maybe the prostaglandins will make it worth it LOL!

As for it possibly inducing labour .. I went a full week overdue with my first two kids and tried sex and every other trick in the book without any luck so I don't have too much faith in it. I actually recently read that to get enough of the good stuff from the semen to have a chance of bringing on labour you have to do it three times in three hours! No thanks! Not sure if it's true or not but I wont be testing that theory.

No sex drive, but for hubby I will take one for the team (the 4-6 weeks postpartum is a long time to wait for both of us).  We had sex last week and now that I have not made any progress in the last 3 week appts I am thinking we might have to have a go again tonight (even if it is just because we can).

I can barely walk without a limp. Sex is really the last thing on my mind.

However, we've been going at it like crazy for last week and will continue until I go into labor. I'm all for anything that will help get this show on the road.

I didn't have a pump yet, so I just tweaked and strongly and firmly tugged on them for about 20 minutes. This was 24 hours before my induction date. I woke up three hours later in labor. Now, was it really the nipple stimulation or was that simply the tipping point for what my body was getting ready to do anyway, I don't know.  At that point, I was happy to try anything. lol

Sex at 39 weeks 4 days threw me into L&D overnight for false labor.  Contractions stalled out after 8 hours and they sent me home.  It was a total bummer.  My daughter was born  a couple days later on her own time.

When I was 39 weeks with DS I was still having sex.  Nipple stimulation can induce labor...this is what they tried once my water broke and no labor.  The hospital tried pumping on and off to get my labor to start.  Not sure what other kind works.

I have a need for physical closeness - cuddling, hugging, rubbing, etc., but haven't wanted to have sex for months.  I seriously have no interest in it and can't get aroused.  I have told DH to get ready for a sex marathon, but I'm not thinking it will be that enjoyable for me.  Anything to get this baby out.

I really wanted DD to come, so we were having sex a lot near the end.  None of it did any good, though, and I ended up 1 week late.

 THIS EXACTLY!! And sometimes it is a weird time like 2 or 3 o clock in the morning? And I'm not too sure that he would appreciate me waking him up at 3 in the morning...

We're still having sex at least once a week but mostly for intimacy and because I know my husband wants it even though I don't necessarily.  He's going to have to go a long time without it very soon so I want him to get some now!
