Can I get some T&Ps?

I rarely ask, but I'm pretty nervous and scared I slept horrible last night.  Can only imagine how bad it will be tonight. 

I have my gallbladder removal surgery tomorrow at 12:15 PST. I've only had my wisdom teeth removed before with general (my crappy ex-OB used local for my D&C) and have only been in the hospital for DD's birth. And now with DD here I have this irrational fear I won't be able to wake up when she needs me. I'm also stressing about BFing after.  

So if you have a sec, they would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!

T&Ps! I would have those same fears if I were you, having a LO really changes your perspective! I've had surgery with general anesthesia twice and it's always a bit scary being put under, but just remember this is something the doctors do all the time! FWIW, my BFF had her gallbladder removed in high school and it went really well and was no big deal. Try not to stress!

I had my gallbladder out a month ago.  It was done outpatient and laprascopically (is that a word?  I may have just made that up).  Anyway, I had a very similar fear right before my surgery, but my gallbladder pain was so terrible that I spent three days in the hospital the previous month, so I knew I was making the right decision for my family.  The only issue I had was not picking DS up afterward.  That was the hardest part.  The pain is minimal and you'll be good as new very soon.

I had my gallbladder out when LO was 5 weeks old.  I was terrified but knew it had to be done b/c I couldn't live with that pain anymore.

Mine was outpatient surgery - laparoscopic incisions.  Surgery at noon I think and I was home by 5pm, pumped, crashed for 5 hours, then helped take care of DD overnight.

I pumped right before surgery (in the room where they take vitals and have you put on the gown and the nurse takes your medical history), then they taped pads onto my nips so I didn't leak during the operation.  I was crying when they knocked me out (IVs scare the crap out of me) and I was crying when I woke up and was asking for my baby. 

The shoulder pain (the nerves by the gallbladder also read up in the shoulder) was BAD.  Take the meds.  You need them so you can actually rest and heal.

I didn't try nursing DD for 3 days, but we were already on the road to me being EP, so I was used to pumping primarily anyways.  You will get conflicting advice on the narcotics plus BFing.  I dumped the milk for 2 days to let the heavy drugs pass my system.  Do what you feel comfortable with.

My surgery was on a Friday and I was on my own with DD on Monday when DH went to work.  Recovery wasn't too bad, as long as I stayed on top of the pain with narcotics at first then tylenol/advil for the rest of the week.  DD was Baptized the following Sunday and I was pretty much back to normal (with a few slices still taped up on my tummy).

Thanks for all the tips  I was warned about the shoulder pain and told to get a heating pad also.
