valco tri-mode questions

I wasn't planning buying a new stroller, but just saw valco on craigslist for $235.   That's a pretty good price isn't it?  It doesn't have the joey seat.  Are those hard to find used?  It looks like it's an extra $80-100 for a new one.  Also, can you fold it w/ the joey seat or do you have to take that off?  does it fit through regular doorways?

What do you think?  Also, you can't use the joey seat if you are using a carseat, right?  I'd only be using 1 infant carseat this time around.

Re: valco tri-mode questions

  • That is a pretty good price, but the Valco Almond Ion Ex is on Zulily today for only $299! I'm not positive if that one takes the Joey seat or not, but it would be worth a call to Valco to find out. If it does take a Joey seat, I think buying it brand new on Zulily is the way to go!

  • great price.

I think it would be near impossible to find just the joey seat used - it was impossible enough to find one with a stoller.

you take the joey seat off to fold, but it's a piece of cake to take the seat off, and you can fold the joey itself.

yes, it fits through most doorways.

don't think you can use the joey with a carseat.

  • I just bought the tri-mode last week for $550 on sale (joey seat for $80) for my toddler and twins on the way, so that is a GREAT price, even if you have to buy the joey seat new.  It is only 29" wide and will fit through doorways!  The same side takes either the joey or carseat.  I actually contacted valco about it before I bought it.
