3rd Trimester

How much water are you drinking?

At my birthing class this weekend the nurses mentioned that in the third tri we should be drink at least 3 liters of water per day---I'm probably drinking about 2 liters per day and have a hard enough time doing that.  Should I really be drinking this much?  How much are you drinking?  Any tips for getting that extra liquid down?

Re: How much water are you drinking?

  • I keep a filled water bottle next to me at all times, just having it there I constantly sip on it. When I get up to stretch my legs or do something I refill it.

  • I only average 2L a day. I have a 1L camelback bottle that I fill with plain water first and then crystal light second - it's my motivation to get through the plain one!

  • I have found that if I am drinking from a water bottle that has a straw I drink way more and more easily.  I have tried switching it up by adding lemon or lime.  In the summer I would make a pitcher of water and add cucumber to it and let it chill in the fridge.  I also have mixed 1/2 powerade zero and 1/2 water to make it a bit different.
  • I always have my water bottle with me at work and I make sure that I get through it by the time I am done. Then I go home and fill it again and drink it until bed time.  I also have a waterbottle that has a straw and for some reason I feel like it's easier to get down.

  • I have a 74 oz water bottle... I try to finish it everyday, but it doesn't always happen.
  • I drink as much as I can and don't worry too much if it's not perfect.  It helps that my daughter likes to drink whatever I'm drinking, so I try to keep to water so she doesn't get hooked on juice and worse.  I hit points in the day where I just can't drink enough water, so I tend to down a cup or two at a  time during those periods.

  • I'm pretty good about drinking my 6-8 glasses/day.

  • I am drinking about 3 -4 litters a day of water, not including other liquids. I drank alot of water before I was pregnant, so I havent really had a problem.

  • I've been crazy-thirsty, so drinking lots of water hasn't really been a problem. I usually get 2-2.6L in, and my OB thinks that's plenty.

  • I honestly don't measure/keep track. I just keep a glass of water next to me at all times and keep refilling it. As long as my urine is clear-ish during the day, I figure I'm getting enough water.

  • I buy the 1.5 liter water bottles and make sure to drink at least 2 a day so at the very least I'm drinking 3 liters (about 101 ounces) but I usually have an extra glass or two.
