What did YOUR early labor contractions feel like?

It's kind of weird how a lot of women (and even the same woman but different pregnancies) feel early labor contractions differently. I'm curious what your contractions felt like?  (By EARLY contractions I don't mean BH contractions at like 33 weeks, I mean the contractions you felt early-on when you were in real labor).

Re: What did YOUR early labor contractions feel like?

  • If I remember correctly they were like mild menstrual cramps that started low in my belly and wrapped around to my back.

But frankly, I can hardly remember.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • I didn't have any at all. My regular contractions started very painfully lasting a minute and a half and three minutes apart. I felt great until that very first contraction then BAM. Henry was born 5.5 hours later - on his due date. He is still impatient.

  • I never had them either.  I went from nothing with DS to full blown labor.  Had him 4 hrs later.  DD I was induced.

  • I had BH contrax all the time.  Like 4 an hour.  They were pretty painless, but the day labor started, they started coming every 7 minutes and were just mildly uncomfortable, like mild cramps.
  • I was induced both times, so they felt like a thousand knives stabbing into my lower back.  I just love pitocin...not!
  • Mine felt like gas, I actually took 2 gas-x chewables and got really ticked when they weren't working.  Then I realized that the 'gas' was coming every 5 mins and starting at the top of my belly and moving down.  They started at 2:30 in the morning, and DD was born at 10:15 that night.  GL!
  • 2 days before I had her, I was just having regular strong BH....I could talk and walk through them.  It just felt like the tightening with a little bit of crampiness.  The next day, I'd have contrax periodically throughout the day that I could not WALK through, but could talk through.  That night it all changed and I couldn't talk through any of them and it was time.
