DD doesn't go to daycare, but I am gone for about 9.5 hours, I nurse RIGHT before I leave and as soon as I get home. She drinks four 3oz bottles while I am gone. I think best is trial and error, but it might be harder for you because you're using daycare. We at first tried 4oz bottles and she would sleep for 3 hours, then eat and go back to sleep, repeat...then be up all night. There is a calculator for weight on kellymom, you could try that too if you want to HTH!
You are probably going to have to play with it a bit. My 4 mo takes a 5.5 oz bottle every 3 hours. I nurse her at 7:00 am, then my H takes her in at 8:00. She eats at 10/1/4 and I pick her up at 5:30. I don't nurse her again til 7 (unless she is hungry, obviously) or so and then she wakes around 2:00 am to eat. My guess is she is taking in about 25-27 oz per day.
At 3 months, LO took a 4 oz bottle every 3.5-4 hours (although the first week at daycare, he only took 3 oz while he was getting used to them). Now he takes 5 oz and also has one "meal" of solids (another 2 oz of bm mixed with cereal).
But it can greatly vary from baby to baby- my older LO used to take 6 oz bottles like no one's business and was every 3 hours on the clock.
I keep a stash of 12oz in the freezer at day care just in case of emergency. I sent 12oz everyday the 1st month for 3 bottles of 4oz. just this week I noticed that they were dipping into the stash for a 4th botte so I'm now sending 16oz. She goes in between 9 and 10 and is picked up at 5:30ish.
Re: XP from BF: EBF'ers: How many oz for daycare?
Drop off: 7:15am
Pick up: 4:45pm
12oz
I sent about 20oz on the first day just to be sure there was enough, but she never had to dip into the stash.
