I know that sometimes some antibiotics are better suited for some things than others, but in general do they all work?
Here's why I am asking: when I went to the OB's office on Tuesday, they prescribed me an antibiotic to take daily as a preventative because I am prone to UTIs, especially while pg. I keep forgetting to stop by the pharmacy, so I haven't filled it yet. Just today I started getting a bad headache and I'm just getting over a cold. I'm starting to think it might be going into a sinus infection. If I get my UTI prevention antibiotics, will that probably take care of the sinus infection, too?
Re: Antibiotics question
Antibiotics do not fight all infections equally. Certain ones work better on certain bacterial strains. Depending on what you were prescribed, it may fight your sinus infection or it might have no effect whatsoever.

No, they gave me Macrodantin. But based upon all this I'm guessing that wouldn't work.
It may help actually from what I just read BUT it is MOST effective in treating UTI's coming from E. Coli

Nope. It's like substituting flour for bisquick, adding water and hoping for pancakes. All you'll get is glue.
That's a pretty crappy analogy, but I can't think of a better one. To answer your question, no. Sorry.
