toys for 1 & 3 year olds?

I need Christmas gift suggestions for Connor, who will be 1 in February, and our nephew, who just turned 3. Both have older siblings who are close in age, so they already have a ton of the "standard" toys. I'd love to hear suggestions for a great toy they might not yet have. If you have kids these ages I'd love to hear your kids' favorite toys, or maybe you've given gifts to kids these ages that were big hits?

i'm not sure i have any really great ideas....but i went with a doll house for DD #1.  it's a melissa and doug one that's not super big.  then i also made her an apron and a seat cushion for the floor.  it looks like this, only a girl version.

poor DD #2 isn't really getting much.  i'm telling myself it's okay since she's only 3 months and won't know the difference, but my mom always kept things super equal so it makes me feel a little guilty!

DD LOVES this F-P house.  She got it for her first birthday and plays with it every day. 

I also got her a set of these for Christmas.  She always wants my keys and these look and feel and sound like keys, but they're stainless steel (safe for chewing, dishwasher safe) and don't have sharp edges.  I have a feeling she is going to love them.  They also ship really quickly.  I ordered them at the beginning of the week and they're already here. 

ETA:  The above are recs for the 1 y.o.  For the 3 y.o., my friends swear by this bath toy.  Evidently, all their kiddos think it's the best thing ever.

No suggestions but I am with you - I need ideas for my 1 year old.   He likes everything his older sister already has.   And he loves music, just like his sister.   I'm struggling with something to get just for him.
