I heard that loose stools and constipation can both be signs of early labor or labor in general...has anyone else heard this? I thought it was a little odd.

Yes it can be .. but I had loose stools for a few days around 37/38 weeks with my daughter and was convinced it meant I was going to go into labour any time and ended up going to 41 weeks.
Yes, it definatly is. I had loose stools for 2 weeks (everything I ate came right back out) before my DD was born. It was a major sign for me that she was coming soon! Everyone is different!
It can be...but I think that's typically just when you are near your EDD. If you have it earlier, it might just be because your system is more sensitive due to pregnancy. The only other connection is that loose stools can cause dehydration which can bring on contractions (usually BH ones.)
Re: so iv'e heard...possible tmi.
It can be. Some people/books/articles say that it's your bodys way of cleaning itself out in preparation for labor.
It doesn't happen to everyone though.
