Crying while sleeping?

DD's sleep patterns have completely changed over the last few weeks... first she was STTN, but then she started waking once (I'm not complaining, just saying), and now she will all of a sudden start fussing (not really crying) at about 2:30, but she is still asleep because her eyes are closed and she doesn't open them even when I go in her room. Anyways usually I can just give her a paci and she will continue sleeping until about 5:30 or 6 when she gets up to be fed.

Anyways, I am wondering if anyone else's LO is doing this and if there is anything you think I can do to help her? It just makes me so sad to hear the noises and I just want her to get a good night's rest. We also hadn't been giving her a paci at all at night prior to this and I would like to try to avoid her getting used to it and needing it.

Lincon took a paci twice when that happened and after that he just put himself back to a deeper sleep. I let him be for a minute to see if he will work it out himself because I have read that it is normal and that they are working on self-soothing themselves back to sleep.

Could be she has started teething?

DD does this as well.  But it seems only in the day through her naps.  Or I don't hear her in the night.  Some people have said it's night terrors or bad dreams.  She seems to be fine if I jsut rock her or give her her paci.  I hate thinking that she is sacred but she seems to be fine.

My LO does the same thing. Like yours, she slept through the night. Then she woke up 1x without fussing/crying. Then she started crying in her sleep. We used a paci like you, but she has refused it for past 2 weeks. So now I have become her paci.sometimes rocking her when she's in crib works, but usually all she needs is to suck me and she's passed out again. We aren't sure why she does it. Seems to be various reasons: gas,diaper leaks,or a sound stirs her and she is mad she is waking up!
