schedule for you ebf mommies

Do you ebf mommies have a schedule for napping? I think i'm going thru a sleep regression which is making us both miserable!!  I would love to get her on two longer naps a day instead of these 10 min snoozes but i don't quite know how to do it.....do any of you have this issue?  I'm thinking it's justbaby specific...so i'm not sure there is a solution.  I just hope this regression stops soon....and if you have any advice for that...i'll take that too!!!

Re: schedule for you ebf mommies

  • I just posed on 6-9 asking mommy's of older LO's when they were able to accomplish this, not much so far. DS is a chronic 45 minute napper, which would be fine to base a schedule around, except, sometimes he wakes up and is still clearly tired, so I try to put him back to sleep. I would love to be on a schedule, so I will wait to see if you get any answers!!

  • 45 minutes is one sleep cycle, so that is a good nap!

If my LO wakes up happy, cooing, smiling, then I get her up.  If she's fussypants, that means she woke up before her nap was over.  I shush her back to sleep (or nurse her back to sleep if I'm feeling snuggley!).

  • My DD takes lots of cat naps during the day (<30 min or so), but STTN so I'm not too worried. I've been trying to figure out a way to get her on more of a schedule, but so far she just naps when she feels like it during the day. She's a generally happy baby so her schedule must be working!

I feel like I need to loosen up and embrace this mentality a bit more... aside from the teething or 4MW or whatever the heck is going on with DS this week, he was always a good night sleeper and a happy baby despite short naps, maybe I should be happy with that if he ever goes back to normal!! ;)

  • We've just started getting ourselves into a loose schedule in the last 3 or 4 weeks. First nap starts around 9, second nap starts between 12 and 1, and the last nap starts around 5. In bed for the night by 7:30.

We've found that LO is ready for a nap after 2 hours of being awake, so these naptimes definitely vary depending on how long each nap is.

I EBF, and feed him when he wakes up in the morning, after each of his 3 naps, and before bed - so 5 times during the day.

    That's what we do, too.
