Good rash cream to use with CD's?

Almost two weeks ago, I bought a pack of Luvs for MIL to use on DS when she watched him for a day. When I brought him home from MIL's, he started taking really, really long naps and sleeping 14-16 hours every night, so I kept using the Luvs for the extra absorbency. After two days in the Luvs, he got a terrible rash. We realized the problem was actually the Luvs and switched back to his regular CD'd immediately. Now, almost two weeks later, the entire rash is gone except for a few red spots that look like popped blisters. Those haven't gotten worse, but they haven't gotten much better either. I'm changing him often during the day, but he still sleeps about 12 hours a night. I'd like to have something to put on his bum at night that won't do damage to his nighttime pockets, but will give the blister-y spots some extra protection. Recommendations? TIA

  • I'm still awaiting LO, but the ladies on here tend to recommend Angel Baby Bottom Balm or CJ BUTTer. I got both but only found them online, but might be available if you have a local CD store. I think some may also use CA baby, but I'm not sure that is 100% safe with CDs. I think the FAQs at the top of the message list might have a list of CD safe creams. You could also use a fleece liner (cut up something fleece you have if you don't have an official liner) and use whatever cream you have.
  • I just use desitin with a fleece liner.

  • I have homemade fleece liners I use with my GroVias, but DS leaks out of GroVias at night. I thought fleece liners couldn't be used with pockets because the two layers of fleece together would repel or something.
  • I use Grandma El's and we love it so far.
  • We've used California Baby sensitive diaper cream, Gro-Via Magic Stick & CJ's Butt-er stick.  All have worked well, although the stick versions are a lot less messy than the cream - esp. if you have a squiggly baby.  The sticks last longer too.

  • CJ's BUTTer is pretty good, but we use Butt Paste and a fleece liner in our overnight pockets.

Nope, I use fleece liners with pockets all the time. I mostly use regular A&D on rashes.

  • I use CJs as a preventative and used Grandma El's when she had a bad rash as a newborn.
  • when you use a non cd friendly cream with the fleece liners...do you wash them separately?
