I just found out I'm pregnant and approaching 6 weeks now. I made my first prenatal appointment at both my regular Cooper OB/GYN office and Garden State Ob/Gyn. This is my first child so I don't know about delivering at either hospital. Two years ago I did have an ovarian cyst removed and spent almost a week at Cooper and had a very pleasant experience. I live in Voorhees at the moment but soon moving.
Has anyone delivered a Cooper? Or the new Virtua in Voorhees? How was your experience? What hospital should I choose?
I wouldn't mind staying at Cooper for the fact I been there before but if Virtua is better then I will go there. I would like to figure this out before December 10
Re: What's a better hospital to deliver at, Cooper or Virtua Voorhees?
I also delivered at the new Virtua Voorhees in June. I loved Labor & Delivery. The nurses were awesome. The post-partum unit nurses leave a lot to be desired and the lactation consultants are terrible and condescending (when they show up). The hospital facilities are fantastic though and having the guarantee of your own private room is awesome. I'll definitely be delivering there again...I'll just know not to expect much from post-partum and LCs.
For what it's worth, I think it more important to find a doctor you're comfortable and happy with instead of a hospital. You're going to spend 9 months seeing your doctor and dealing with his/her staff v. spending 2 to 4 days in a hospital. I would much rather have a supportive doctor and a staff that has its act together and doesn't make me wait while I'm there. My doctor was Garden State Ob/Gyn and I cannot say enough good things about them. I'd do a commercial for them for free that's how much I love them. Even the woman who handles the blood draws was all around awesome.
