Feet STILL in ribs?

I guess this is mainly aimed towards 2nd time moms or people who've gone into labor, but anyone can help if you know...

I went to the Dr. at 36 weeks- they said he was "right there" and could feel his head. At 38 weeks a different doctor said he still has a way to go and isn't that low. So I'm guessing he went the wrong way? lol.. but my real question is I feel this little mans feet in my ribs constantly. When the baby really does drop does that go away, or is that just where his feet are bc the space is cramped? I feel dumb asking this but I was wondering if the fact that his feet are still in my ribs means he really is still pretty high up.

  • Also a FTM, but my lil guy is up & down a lot too.... sometimes I feel like he is going to fall right out of me, and other days I can't even catch my breath he is so high.

  • DD1's feet were in my ribs up until labor, and then I just didn't notice where they were. It could be LO's positioning or the length LO or your torso. I'm 5'5" and DD1 was 21 inches, so when she straightened her legs, they would both hit my ribs on each side.
  • At first I would feel like the baby was low then high again on another day. Lately, the baby has been low and stayed low. I've only had the occasion kick to the rib since the baby truly dropped. I have a short torso so I expected to the very end.

  • Im a FTM too but if it makes you feel better LO's feet have never been in my ribs or at least I havent noticed. I haven't had an internal yet but I have so many u/s I know she's at least head down. I feel her on my sides almost at my back which I find weird I keep worrying that shes moved or flipped or whatever but every u/s each week shes still head down...

This is me too.  I can usually tell because the top of my belly is rock hard when he's jammed up there and it's quite uncomfortable to sit.

  • i gave birth yesteday and my little girl was up in my ribs up until shecame out. my ribs and sternum hurt soo bad.. they still are sore.. good luck..

  • Ugh, I'm 3 cm dilated and while my LO has dropped he still LOVES to stretch out his feet directly into the right side of my ribcage. OUCH! It is getting real crowded in there as he is getting bigger and we are reaching the end so it is to be expected.
