I've been a little stressed about this. I feel like asking...but haven't.
There are 3 OBs in my office. They all rotate "on call" times. I'm HOPING that if anyone is on vacation it will be the head OB (that runs the office) because I really dislike her!
My OB has only been at this practice for a few months so I hope she doesn't have vacation time yet;). But doctors seem to be able to do anything...

No, he'll be around, but he is going on vacation the week before my c-section. He'll be back and on call the Saturday and Sunday before I'm scheduled so that makes me feel a little better. With DS his associate assisted in the OR, and I've heard great things about him too. I do hope though everything goes good and I will have my dr.
Our wonderful baby boy, Kellen, was born on 12/27/07
My midwife technically has time off for Christmas, but is not leaving town, so she will be available when I call. She always takes her own mama's unless she is out of town. Love her
My OB practice is so big that I have never seen the same one twice. They have 3 seperate offices with 15-20 Drs total. So I have no idea who will be delievering me and who will be on vacation.

Mine is in-town, but on mandatory off-duty (of the 4 OBs in the office, they take turns being on mandatory off-duty breaks) for the week I'm due. I'm not as concerned about who is actually there to catch the baby (I'm low risk) and my OB has a natural-labor friendly practice. She's made sure to add lots of notes to my chart regarding my preferences, so if another OB takes over, they will be caught up quickly.
I'm told if I go into labor during regular business hours, she'll probably stop by to deliver -- she's just not allowed to be on-call outside of those times.

I just found out mine will be away too!! Two appointments ago I asked him what the odds were of him delivering my baby, and he said he delivers 90-some percent of his patients' babies, so I was pretty happy about that. Then today I was making my weekly appointments a few weeks out and the nurse said "Oh the week of the 20th he's not here" I was like.. "you mean the week my baby is due?" I wish someone would've told me. It's not the end of the universe, but obviously I was concerned about it if I made it a point of asking earlier.
The practice I go to is 7 docs.... any one of them could be on call the day I deliver, and they make sure you see each for your prenatal visits so no matter which one is there for the big day - you have met them before. There are 1 or 2 I am really hoping are the ones, but honestly they have all been great.
This was one of the main reasons we chose this practice... I knew being due around Christmas especially, the chance of *MY* doc being on call were slim. And really who could blame them for wanting to go away with their families for the holidays?
"If every word I said, could make you laugh - I'd talk forever".
My MW is gone Dec 18th to 23rd, and my doula is gone the 24th to the 26th. Little Miss has to wait until her due date or I won't have a complete birth team! Or she can come before the 18th.
ETA: There are two other MWs in the practice that could deliver me (and a bunch of OBs if it came to that) so that's not as big of a deal to me. I'd much rather have my doula in town.

Being that I am due December 20th- this was a HUGE concern for me. Being right at the two holidays and the fact that I despise the other OB in the practice, I made sure to ask at one of my first appointment. And THIS is just another reason I love my OB- She takes her holiday in October for two weeks and then she is here for the rest of the holidays! She has personally promised me that she will be the one to deliver my baby no matter if it's Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Years. It was a huge relief to me for sure.
Mine is gone this whole week and weekend. Thankfully, the other doctors in the practice are all good too so if I go into labor, which I'm really hoping I will, it will be fine.

I had an appt. today and asked my Dr. IF I happen to be overdue, how long they'll let me go. She said no more than 2 weeks, but she'll be out of town Dec. 24-29 -- I'm due on the 17th. I told her that since I'm not planning on going home to see family for Christmas (3.5 hours away) that I'd rather be at my house with DH and our baby, and not pregnant and miserable away from family! She figured they could induce the Wednesday or Thursday before she heads out of town if we so choose.

I am due the 24th so it was a concern for me as well. Fortunately, he will be around for Christmas but not Thanksgiving. Here's hoping Black Friday doesn't put me in labor!
I actually asked about this, because it was something I was worried about. My Dr, and the other Dr I have met with in the practice (who I really like) are the 2 drs rotating the on-call days the whole Christmas week, luckily. I know my dr is going to be away the week or 2 before the holidays, so as long as I don't go early, I will probably have a dr I am comfortable with.
I just found out mine will be gone the whole week of Xmas and I'm due that week. I'm sad because I love him, he is the best Dr ever! Maybe I'll be lucky and go the week before!
