So I haven't hardly had any BH this week, but now I'm having contractions every 4-10 min for the past 2 hours. My friend who is a 2nd time mom recommended I go to L&D if they are less than 10 min apart for 2 hours. OB office said to go in if they persist (not specific enough for me...)
If it makes a difference, DH & I had some "us" time this morning...
WWYD?
Re: WWYD? Contractions are back.
If you are concerned go in, but I've gone in for contractions before and they will usually send you home unless they are 5-6 minutes apart for more then an hour. I've been having contractions spastically for over a week now, it sucks, and sometimes they will get consistent and they after 45 minutes they will pass.
Its tough and a pain (literally), good luck.
Since they aren't consistent (you said 4-10 minutes apart) it sounds like they were brought on by your "us" time.
I would put my feet up, drink some water, and write down the timing of them for at least an hour. If they become more regular (1 minute long, 5 minutes apart for an hour) then I would consider going in.
My OB told me to go in if I had 8 or more in an hour. I was in pre-term labor two weeks ago so they're monitoring me pretty closely. But I would definitely try laying down on your left side and drinking a lot of water.
Being dehydrated can cause pretty major contractions. Do that for about an hour or so and see if they let up. If not, give the OB a call or just go in.
Fastest year of my life.
My husband actually took me into the hospital Sun night bc I was having contractions every 4-5 minutes, and the hospital monitored me for 2 hours, and they continued according to the nurse every 2-4 minutes with no change in my cervix... they ended up giving me a shot of morphine and sending me home. Followed up w my dr the next day, and i was still only 2 cm dilated. He said it was like my body was trying to do something, but he wasnt sure if the real thing would be in 1 day or 2 more weeks... which has kind of got me wondering if I'm having contractions that strong and regular that they last over 3 hours constantly, how will I know the real ones? The L&D nurse even said she couldn't tell me if they were braxton hicks or real contractions...
