Anyone have Tag Jr? WDYT?

Target has an awesome deal on the Tag Jr reader and books right now through tomorrow. I bought it and a few books for DS for Christmas (totally wasn't on the list of things to get him, I am a sucker for a deal), but am debating on if I should return them or not. I have read the reviews on it, and some people love it and some are just "eh" about it, saying their kids outgrow it quickly.

DS is 18 months and LOVES books. He would sit and read for over an hour a day if we could. He loves pointing to things in his books and having us repeat what they are over and over again.

Do you have one? What do you think of it for this age? I am also thinking of getting a second one for my nephew who will be 3 in Feb. He's really rough on toys and doesn't like to read a lot, and is really rough on books (thinking Tag Jr because they are all board books), but my SIL is trying to read with him more since he will be starting pre-school next year. Thoughts on getting it for a 3 year old? Thanks guys!

  • i have one, I got it for DD when she was about the same age as your DS. I think it's great, but she doesn't love it. She loves books she loves to do things herself, but for some reason, she doesn't really like it. She likes the books, and we read them, but initially she would just throw the thing away if I tried to show it to her, or to read the books with it. Now she is learning to use it and she likes it a little more but still not what I was envisioning. Anyway, I am not sure that is helpful, since I can't figure out what she doesn't like about it, but I think it's pretty awesome.

  • I bought one for my son last year when he was 17 months.  He likes it, but it's not something he plays with frequently.  It's brought out on occasion and he'll turn it on and listen to the books/music/sounds they make.  I too got it on black friday for xmas for him so it was a good deal.  I'd say it wasn't a bad purchase on my part but just something he doesn't use as much as I thought.  And my son is really into books, I think he just likes interacting with us reading more than the Tag jr.  The Tag jr is just for playing around.
  • My son has one that he got for his second birthday.  He LOVES it! He'll play with it for 45 min - 1 hour each day by himself which is awesome. I highly recommend it.

  • DS has one.  He got it as a gift last Xmas - he was about 18 months.  Its not his most played with toy, but I would say it gets a lot of use.  However, even now (he's 2.5) we have to sit with him and help him use it.  He loves using it on the books that have the characters he knows - Toy Story, etc.

  • My DD is 5 and she will uses hers every so often still.  I think it is worth it.

  • Thanks! I got one for DS and another for my nephew. They were half off as well as the books. I got them each 4 books, which should last them for awhile. Thanks for the input. I figure it will get enough use for the price.
