DH and I were watching last week's episode of FX's The League, a sitcom about friends in a fantasy football league. One of the characters goes back to his old high school because he just made them a donation. He comes across a custodian in the hall and plans to ask for directions to the principal's office.
To get the custodian's attention the guy looks to what he assumes is a name tag and says something like "Hey Carmenjello..."
The costodian immediately stops him and says something like "Wait a minute, did you just call me Carmenjello? Oh, you thought this was a name tag? Did ever accur to you that this might be the company of custodians I work for? What kind of crazy person would ever name their child Carmenjello?
As the episode moved on we learn that his name is actually Steve and Carmenjello the company is supposed to be pronounced Car-MAN-gel-O.
A funny episode about our perceptions of people and names.
