Hey ladies,
I have an OB appointment this morning and am going to ask there, too, but just wanted to get some feedback from peers, as well! I had HELLP syndrome with my first child, she was born at 35 weeks, thankfully totally healthy. I'm 29 weeks with our second and my in-laws want us to travel 4 hours to visit them when I will be 32 weeks.
I have about a 20% chance of HELLP repeating, it came on VERY fast last time, and there is no NICU within 2 hours of where my in-laws live. I've been trying very hard to just go with the flow and not get too stressed about the possibility of repeating, but this just seems like a bad idea. Obviously, I think I've made my decision, but looking for reassurance that I'm not being paranoid!
Thanks!
Re: had HELLP with first, travel with second?
No way would I go. I went into preterm labor on a freaking business trip. I was 6 hours from home. I lost my babies and I think part of the reason why they didn't even try to stop my labor was because if they stopped it, I would have still been stuck 6 hours from home for months.
I am currently pg again and refused to travel past 12 weeks. My Dr. wrote me out of work travel and I'm not traveling for pleasure either.
I know that traveling doesn't cause labor but the whole process of being so far away sucked. We couldn't even bury our babies because the hopsital where I delivered couldn't get permits for us to be able to transport their bodies across state lines. We had them cremated and they mailed their ashes to us.
No way, no how am I going more than 30 minutes from my Dr's for the duratin of their pregnancy.
