Visitation for a 1 month old

My DS is one month old and my attorney emailed me today and said a court hearing is scheduled for Monday the 28th. My ex bf was physically and verbally abusive to me and if I had it my way, I would not have him involved in my DS's life at all. This past Friday, we did the DNA test. Does anyone know what a typical visitation schedule would look like for my baby boy? I feel so sick and sad about this.

Re: Visitation for a 1 month old

  • I have asked this question on here as well and I am sure you will get many responses, but I believe it is recommended that there should be no overnights until LO is 18-24 months of age (some states I think it might even be 3 years old) and that non-custodial parent should have frequent short visits with LO.  Like 2 to 3 x a week for 2 to 3 hours?

I am struggling with this same thing, but this won't work for me since the father lives 3 hours away.

Good luck to you on your court date.  Mine is looming as well, and I  am looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time.

  • Research your state law when it comes to visitation or custody, because here in Ga if you weren't married to the father, all parental rights is up to the mother, the father is not even recognize even if he signs the birth certificate unless he has the child legitimized and even with that a child support order would have to be in place. So I suggest you research it and find out what your rights are.
