Not dilated yet

I had my 36 week appointment this morning and had an internal done.  I've had so many BH and cramps lately that I was sure I'd be at least a tiny bit dilated/effaced, but the doctor still said nothing's changed.  I'm not disappointed really since it's still early, but it seems like everyone else is already starting to dilate.  Are any other early December moms still closed up tight?

I am 37w 3 days and not dilated or effaced. Since I am not uncomfortable either, I want my baby to cook as long as she wants I will miss my belly!

I am. However I think you can be closed right up till you go into labour sometimes so not sure how reliable that is on when baby will decide to pop out... My Dr said that some of her patients were closed up tight right up till the day their water broke then had their babies later that day!

I had my first internal on Tuesday - I'm not dilated at all, but I am effaced 70%.  I am really crampy this week so I'll be interested to see if there's any change at my 38 week appt next Tuesday

 

ETA:  my mom told me she had ZERO progress before the day she went into labor with me and her labor was only 7 hours, so no progress doesn't mean much

At 36 weeks I was 50% effaced, closed tight.   At 37 weeks I am 75% effaced, very soft and closed tight.  Both exams showed baby at a -2 station, so he's not really in a hurry to move his way further down.  I've been crampy yesterday, all last night, and today, but it doesn't appear to be affecting dilation yet.  Oh well... he will come when he is good and ready, and I'm not going to rush him (even though I am getting more and more uncomfortable every day!).

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel a little better!  I don't want to rush him either, but I do hope I don't go over my due date by more than a few days, if any.  I guess it's just a waiting game at this point!

I was checked last wednesday at L&D and nothing yet.

At my 36 week appointment my cervix was still closed.  My doctor said it's common for first time moms and not to be worried.  I go to the doctor again today so we will see if anything has happened. Im uncomfortable but I am OK with this little cooking for as long as he needs to.

I was a fingertip dilated, which is basically nothing. I was a fingertip dilated with DD up until my induction at 41 weeks. Not expecting much to change at my next few appointments.

I'm having an RCS this time so I'm not getting internals, but with DD I didn't dilate at all until my 41 week appointment when my OB scheduled my induction, and even then only a fingertip.  So at this point in my first pregnancy I was definitely still closed up.

At my appt this morning I was 60% effaced, soft, but not dilated at all.  I've been having lots of BH contractions everyday but am thinking he's going to stay in there at least until his due date!

This is me.  Had my 36 week today and I have done nothing.  I thought for sure with all the contractions and little bits of blood on the tissue here and there the past 2 weeks.  But NOPE nada nothing.  Was a little disappointed but she is heads down and is lower than she was 2 weeks ago.  Was so hoping but its all good.

I had my second internal today and I will be 38 weeks on Saturday. I'm not dilated one bit or effaced. The Doc said it means nothing, I could have the baby tomorrow.

At my 36 week appt last week, I was 60% effaced, zero % dilated. At this week's 37 week appt, I was 70% effaced, still no dilation, but dr said my cervix was very soft. She also said that things could start happening very fast too, so I guess the weekly progression really doesn't mean too much...

Yup me. I was checked about a week ago (due to bad cramping) and was still closed and posterior. I wasn't surprised .. I wasn't even 1cm dilated at 40 weeks with my last baby so I'm assuming this one will follow suit Try not to get too discouraged .. I was 3cm dialted for three weeks with my first and still ended up going a full week overdue.
