Re: what kind of shoes are you wearing & waddeling....
I accidently bought a pair of dress flats in a larger size before I was PG. I hate making returns so I just kept them. These have been a lifesaver and I wear them every day including the weekends.
I just really hope my feet go back down to my normal size or I have a lot of shoes to donate.
My Blog
Dream of a better world...where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.
Today - Ugg boots because Thursday/Friday we can wear jeans at work
Monday - Wednesday - I've been wearing flats. I haven't thought about wearing heels in months.
On the weekends, I'll either wear Uggs or my slip on athletic shoes. I have tried tie shoes and I can't bend over comfortably anymore to tie them!!
DH drug me on a factory tour of farm equipment over a year ago. We were 4 states from home in the middle of the summer when he decided to tell me I couldn't wear sandals to the dumb place! I rushed out and bought the cheapest tennis shoes I could deal with...they are wide width nikes. I'm starting to feel like a P.E. teacher because that's all I've been wearing since it's gotten colder (before it was nothing but flip flops). Occassionally I'll try and make it out of the house in something different...nothing else is comfortable!
If it would get colder I'd break out my Ugg like boots (which are also roomy). But it's just not that cold yet and I'm always hot:S.
I'm finding it odd that many people are loving their Uggs right now. I tried wearing both my Ugg boots and Ugg slippers and I had to stop because I was getting so much pain in my heels. Once I switched to the slip-on Merrells I was fine.
I have flat feet, so for me, it's only comfortable to wear heels. I still wear my 2 inch heeled boots outside and 1.5 inch heel slip-on shoes inside. I mostly wear my knee high boots this time of year (lots of rain in Seattle right now), but on a sunnier day will wear my ankle booties.
I only wear sneakers when working out on the elliptical. If I wear them longer than an hour (even pre-pregnancy) the lack of an arch would hurt too much. Yes, I've tried inserts -- even Rx ones -- and nothing works as effectively as just a two-inch heel.
I have naturally wide feet, so I always make sure my shoes are either fully adjustable in width (lace-up) and/or genuine leather to help naturally stretch and give.
(I haven't had any swelling, so I assume the same guidelines would help?)

I've been living in my Disney Crocs :-)
I started swelling about a week ago and now nothing else will do. When I stand up now, my feet hurt just to walk on them, so Crocs are heaven!
