last time i tried cloth, every single diaper leaked. i had bought them off of CL, used. i'm trying again and things are going well with my 2nd DD. i want to try some other styles and would love to save some money by buying used, but i'm traumatized that they're not going to really be in the condition stated.
i think the used batch i had purchased wasn't washed properly or something...idk.
am i being crazy?
Re: am i being ridiculous (used CD)
I have bought quite a few cds used, and I have only encountered one issue. I had one diaper come with a small hole in it (an elemental) that the seller hadn't noticed, and she actually refunded me $5 for it.
I have been more than happy with my experiences, but I know there are some ladies that have gotten less than favorable diapers. I am guessing if the previous diapers were leaking, they likely had build up issues and just needed to be stripped really well.
Good luck!
I have had very good luck buying used cloth. The only complaint I would say I have is some of the inserts (I use pockets only) have been well used and didn't look like they would hold the urine. I just went and bought new inserts. In the end I still saved a lot of money.
I always strip, soak and double wash all the used diapers I get in the mail.
I usually buy all of my used of Spot's Corner, and through PayPal. This way if the seller is being untruthful, then you leave her negative feedback and request your money back with Paypal. With CL there is no one to hold them accountable, although you might still be able to get money back through Paypal. Of course, always contact the seller first.
I have bought some diapers off of Craigslist though, and they were NOT as stated. They were stained to high heaven. Nothing bleach didn't fix though! (I paid $35 for $140 worth, so at that price I wasn't worried about ruining them)
I have had only one bad experience with used, and that was when my nb stash was ~80% used.
You may have better success getting it from people you "know". I bought from people on TB for the most part. And I asked for pictures every time.
