my gram gave me a set of 12 (ACK!) bone china looking plates (they're huge, like charger-sized) when she and my gramp moved out of their house and into a smaller apartment. I don't know why I took them, I need more plates like I need more babies (which is to say, not at all). I already have, um, 24 plates, 8 of which never get used.
So, is there a way to find out if these plates are worth anything and how I should go about selling them if they are?
And if you're into collecting old plates, want some old plates? ![]()
Re: know any way to tell if old plates are valuable?
On the bottom should be a "stamp" of the plate/china maker. You could look up that name on the interwebs/ebay.
I have a ton of china from my grandmother that I need to do the same.
There is actually not one single stamp or maker's mark on them, that's why I'm having a difficult time figuring out their worth.
My gram says they're old and she's not a liar about stuff so I'm taking her word for it, but without any markings, I'm not able to trace them.
My FIL is an antiques dealer and loves to solve a good mystery.... If you email me pictures, I'll be happy to send them his way. Take a picture of the front and back (even though there isn't a stamp, sometimes the shape/curves/etc. hold identifying traits).

ooh, neat! I'll definitely take you up on this. Expect an email later today.
Thanks!
