First, let me say that I am so happy I listened to my gut/maternal instinct. What I thought to be nothing turned out to be a major something.
Got to L&D and hooked up to the monitors at around 4:30. That light crampiness kept getting stronger and radiating to my back. Turns out those were contractions and they continued to get stronger. They checked me and I wasn't dilated at all but about 50% effaced. Got an ultrasound to learn that my cervix was at a 2.5. They gave me a trebutoline shot to stop the contractions and it worked for awhile. It then wore off and the contractions came back in full force, right on top of each other. Less than 30 seconds apart. They gave me another shot and it did nothing. Got checked again and cervix was continuing to thin.
So they started the magnesium sulfate drip. Stayed overnight and had the drip all night. This morning I was still having some contractions but nothing too bad. They turned the mag drip down to half to wean me off of it and still was having contractions but again, not too bad. Now I'm completely off the mag and under observation again tonight to see if they start up again.
Baby is completely fine and stress-free so that's good. Now it's just a waiting game to see exactly when Charlotte wants to make her grand appearance.
