It makes me so sad for that innocent baby when I see pregnant women smoking. I was very surprised though that my cousin told me her Dr told her to not quite but to just cut back because it would cause too much stress on her. That seems really odd to me, but maybe there is a theory behind it, I dunno... I can't imagine what it would be.

I had a friend given the same advice -- her doctor was worried about the stress on her body of withdrawl, etc while pregnant. They said the smoking was actually less harmful than quitting. Thankfully she had a full term, healthy baby girl who is now 4 and thriving!
Re: Ugh-disgusting
A few of my friends smoked while pregnant (we live in a tobacco town). Two cut back drastically until they had quit, but one still does.
It's a very addictive habit. I am glad pregnancy has helped two quit, and am just thankful my third friend has cut back as much as she has. :-)
