Celia pronounced (SEEL-yuh)
I came across this name for a girl today in a book, my friends seem to really like it! I have never heard of anyone with this name before, any thoughts?
And what would be a good middle name for it? Last name is Roberts.
Thanks!
Re: Celia?
I like the name Celia! ...MN are hard for me with out a last name.
I've heard of Celia before but not to the point it's "popular" by any means. But not too uncommon that I'd look at your crazy and say "excuse me?"
It's the name of a character from the show Weeds. Granted, she's awful, but I like the name.
I like one syllable MNs. Oh and I say it with three syllables, not two: see-lee-uh.
Celia Jane
Celia Rose
Celia Blythe
Celia June
Celia Pearl
Celia Clarie
Celia Ruth
ETA: Oh, you were going for Ceila, not Celia. I suppose that would be pronounced seel-yuh. I don't like that nearly as much.
I would spell seel-yuh as Celia, FYI
I baby sat a Celia once. It's okay, nothing I would ever use.

It's an okay name. I would spell it Celia not Ceila.
Celia Rose
Celia May
Celia Kay
Those are pretty. GL!
I love it! Classic, and not overused.
I would pronounce it Seel-yah, also. I have never heard of it being "seel-li-ah." You don't pronounce Amelia as "a-meel-ye-ah", just "A-meel-yah" and they are similar in spelling.
I do agree with PP that it might be confused with Cecelia sometimes, which might be a good compromise. Cecelia for a FN and Celia for a nickname? I don't think u need to do that though. Celia can certainly stand on its on.
Go for it!
I like it a lot!
I most recently saw it in The Help (Celia Foote). It is unusual but not weird, feminine, and I don't think people will have trouble spelling or pronouncing it.
LOVE that name, but I probably wouldn't use it because every time I hear it I get the song "Cecelia" by Simon and Garfunkel stuck in my head ("Ceeeeeel - ia, you're breakin' my heart, you're shaking my confidence daily...). It's about a woman who is cheating on her boyfriend.
It's an old song, so I don't know how many people would have this association, but my parents were big Simon and Garfunkel fans, so I grew up listening to it, and it's the first thing I think of when I hear the name. I also associate it with Celia Foote from the Help, as a pp said.
