This weekend I called my grandpa who is a very sweet man, but still pretty stuck in the 1950's when it comes to gender roles. Since I'm the only grandchild that calls/visits regularly he does really make an effort to be supportive of my confusing lifestyle choices (going to college, working, not getting married until my late 20's), but apparently now it's just too much for him to handle. He asked me who was coming to help after the baby is born and I told him that DH and I decided that we wanted it to just be the three of us for those first few weeks until Christmas, at which point both my parents and his will be coming for the holidays. In typical grandpa fashion he just said, oh okay, to me but apparently called my mom right after and lectured her for not coming to take care of me and the baby. She also should have "made" me take off work earlier (I went out at 36 weeks), because that's the reason I still have morning sickness and reflux.
My mom told me I'd better go visit shortly after DD is born so that he can make sure that she is in fact okay and not being raised by wolves, lol.
