Halo problems

Has anyone had problems with the Halo swaddlers? My girls sleep better swaddled but one night I woke up to DD#2 crying with the swaddle up over her face (all the way up covering her eyes).  I tried the fleece ones and it did the same thing.  We have been using them since birth but now it is like they can loosen it up and work down into it.  I don't want to use them but want to swaddle...

TIA

  • I had that problem with the cotton ones.  It seems that when I first put it on it was tight but stretched out and became loose over time.  I was always able to get the fleece ones super tight do they wouldn't loosen.  Sadly I think it happens because they are getting more mobile.  I had to stop using them and break the swaddle because she could break out of everything else.  Have you tried the Miracle Blanket?  I've heard people rave about them but don't have first hand experience.

  • Contact Halo. We had this problem with one of our sacks. They told me it was one of the older designs and they sent me a free one.

How old are yours?  This happened to me in late 2010.  They were new at that time.  Just wondering if yours are more recent then that.

  • We use the Halo sleepers and have had no problems.  But our LOs are only 4 weeks old and we don't swaddle them with their arms in.  Maybe that has something to do with it.

  • Hi there Tia, Halo here.  I recently read your question and wanted to offer some feedback.  It sounds like your daughter is becoming more mobile and stronger, allowing her to break free from the swaddle wrap.  I?d recommend based on your comment that you try swaddling your daughter with one or even both arms free.  You can do this with the HALO SleepSack Swaddle by wrapping the adjustable swaddle under one or both of your daughters arms.  This will give her the sensation of swaddling, but allow her to move her arms as she desires.  This also will make it easier to transition her to a SleepSack wearable blanket as she continues to grow.  We?ve heard from many moms that this works like a charm for them.  If you do want to continue swaddling be sure that you daughter is wearing the appropriate size SleepSack wearable blanket that fits snuggling to ensure a tight swaddle.  We recommend size newborn for babies (birth to 3mos/ 19-23?/6-12 lbs) and size newborn for babies (3-6 mos/23-26?/13-18lbs).  Perhaps the one she is wearing right now is too large.  I hope this helps address your concern.
  • I have had this happen also, I switched to the Miracle Blanket and had no problems.  I switched to the Halo Sleep Sacs when she was out of the swaddle, but until then the Miracle Blanket worked much better.

  • Ours were breaking out of the Halo swaddlers constantly around that age.  We tried the Miracle Blanket which was wonderful until they got too long.  Then we got the Woombie, which I loved because it was so easy to put on, and they could not break out.  I would definitely rec either of those.  We were able to transition at 4 months to just sleepsacks and they are STTN now.
