Thank you so much for the very helpful lists.  I have printed out both list and will put together a care basket for her.

Thanks to everyone who helped put those list together, especially the things to say / not to say part.  Thats really helpful and I'm so glad I read it before I saw her.

I talked to my friend last night and she said the shock is starting to wear off and she is starting to realise how sick she was and how vulnerable he is.  She is getting out of hospital today and said she intends to go home, walk into her bedroom, shut the door and break down. 

To the poster who asked if her DH name was Damien, no it's not them BUT I would bet my life their babie is in there also.
