I see Shea as a boy, and Shay as a girl. I've had a few female students named Shay; not sure what it is about "Shea" that reads slightly male to me (I wouldn't be at all surprised to have a female Shea) but that's my two cents. Or maybe one-and-a-half cents...
This is one of my favorite names. I know it's unisex, but to me it is a feminine name. I do not like the Shea spelling at all. I prefer Shay & I've also seen Shaye which I think is pretty.
Honestly? I think stadium, as in Shea Stadium where the Mets play.
That's what I think of, too. My cousin's friend named her son Shea, he's adorable but I dislike his name. I just think there are much better boy's names out there.

We are leaing towards using Shea as the middle name for our boy. Shea is the Irish way of spelling this name which I prefer. Good name all around, I think.
I like it... it's on our short and getting shorter list to bring to the hospital for DD... I originally had it spelled Shae, but I like Shay too... I only think of a girl's name but my younger brother grew up with a Shay and she was the most gorgeous little thing.

Re: Shea
My DH's friend is named Shea, he's a guy. They call him Shea Butt'ah alllllllllll the time.
I much prefer it for a girl, as a middle name preferably spelled Shay.
boy.. but only because shia lebouf came to mind
I don't like it for either boy or girl
I like Shea for a boy, if it's a family surname. Otherwise, it just seems random.

I went to college with a girl named Shea and her dad is a Mets fan. It was pretty and a little exotic on her, I have to admit.
Lol. This exactly
Girl. My name is Shana, nn Shay.
But I hope that never happens...
I know a female Shay and one named Shaylie (vom) but I still dont' think it's a good name for either a boy or a girl.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
