Chiropractors and baby's position

So, I'm at the "I'll do anything" point to help my VBAC be successfull (and not "I'll do anything to go into labor" just want to make sure I have tried everything I can to make sure I don't end up with a RCS).  I scheduled a chiropractor appointment on Monday because I know this baby is not optimally positioned.  Butt is on the right, head is lodged into my left hip bone, and I occasionally feel flutters of fingers in the front of my body.... not the worst position ever, but certainly not optimal.

Anyone have success with chiropractor adjustments and positioning?   I'm hoping I can loosen up my hips and align them enough so this baby can rotate the way it needs to!  Any other thoughts or ideas for things to help this VBAC along?  One of my friends swears by accupuncture, but I'm not sure I'm quite brave enough for that yet.

Re: Chiropractors and baby's position

  • I did had an accupunture appt with my last pregnancy and I dont think she did any needles. She did a lot with my toes and pressure. I attribute that and the chiropractor to  my easy first delivery.

  • I've been seeing a chiropractor during my 3rd trimester and I think it helps keep me in alignment which encourages baby to be in the right position too.  My LO went head down after two visits to chiropractor (~34wks)...it could have been a coincidence but I'll take it.  I had accupuncture over 48hrs ago and I'm not in labor yet.  My accupuncturist was being a bit more aggressive to try and start things for me (so I can VBAC).  We'll see...it was pretty comfortable treatment overall (I've had accupuncture in the past).

  • My LO also went head down at 34 weeks after 2 visits :) Also could be coincidence, but I don't really think it was. In any case, it's a relatively small price to pay if it helps even a little bit in optimizing position/easing labor.

  • I am in the same spot you are, desperate for a VBAC with a non-cooperative body/LO.  DS never dropped and so far this one hasn't either, which makes me nervous.  I can't answer your question but I'll probably go see a chiropractor in another week if this baby still hasn't dropped.  Hey, it's worth a shot, right?  GL to you on getting your VBAC!

  • I've been seeing a chiropractor because last baby was posterior and I don't want another posterior baby :)  Yesterday the chiropractor said that my pelvis is currently perfectly aligned and today the midwife said that she believes that baby is optimally positioned :)
