Our Server tonight was named

Tasha. Pronounced  "Tay-SHA"....not the normal "TAH sha". TAY SHA! ugh.

Re: Our Server tonight was named

  • We had a server named Princess the other day, and it was at one of those places where you write it on the table, I so just wanted to say: Seriously?! But I guess she didn't pick it...

  • I never understood parents choosing a name for their child that is pronounced some way other than the way it's intended to be said. I know there are multiple pronunciations per name depending on the heritage/area where the name is common, etc. But if you wanted your daughters name to be Taysha, why not just name her Taysha? *sigh*

I completely agree. I work with a Shawnta, but it is pronounced like Shawtae/Shawntay. I know there are others at work with curious pronunciations as well. I always make sure to ask how their names are pronounced when CNAs are floated to my floor because the obvious pronunciation is not always the correct one.

  • This is kind of unrelated but it reminds me of how Patrick Stewart pronounces Natasha Yarr.  He doesn't say Tay-sha, he just says the "a" different than I've ever heard it before (assuming it's a British thing?).  Instead of NAH-ta-sha he'd say NA-ta-sha.  I'm a bit of a Star Trek TNG nerd.  Embarrassed

Ok, back to topic.  Taysha is awful, especially when spelled Tasha.
