Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Gah---please tell me I'm not pregnant....

Seriously people--- I'm praying hard here.  I started back on the pill after my first post partum period end of August.  This was the same pill I was on for about 12 years prior to going off of it about 4 yrs ago.

Well, I've been religiously taking it at the same time every night--but forgot this past Monday (I blame it on the candy!)---and of course we had sex the night before and that day (I know......crazy.....considering we hadn't done it in WEEKS prior to that and months prior to THAT).  So wouldn't you know it that THAT is when I miss it????

So I doubled up last night (took Mon and Tues on Tues) but I'm seriously freaked out.  I'm in the last "week" of pills before getting my period next week (my last one will be this Saturday).

I'm praying that an egg didn't slip past or something.....ugh.  Not that I wouldn't love another baby but I'm already in the nuthouse here with two.  LOL.  I was debating skipping my period next week and starting a new pack right away just because I didn't want my period for an event next week---- not sure if that's a good idea or not?????   Thoughts?   And what are the chances that missing one pill and then doubling up the next would allow for pregnancy????

Damn sex.  This will be the last time for a while LOL.  I was always nervous even on the pill---but this is the first time I've ever forgotten AND had sex right before.

  • I don't think that it increases your chances if you have sex the same day you miss the pill, but I could be totally wrong. Hope not for your sake!

  • You should be safe, just as long as you don't make a habit of missing and doubling up.

  • Hope you aren't pregnant but if I were you I would go to the pharmacy today and pick up the Plan B morning after pill.  You can get it over the counter and it can be taken up to 3 days after unprotected intercourse (that includes missed birth control pills)

  • If you have been taking it religiously and missed one, you should be fine. I would NOT go get the morning after pill, I think that seems pretty excessive. Also, if you were planning on skipping your period, I think you should do it anyway, as the likelihood that you are pg is very slim.

I miss pills ALL the time and have never gotten pregnant.  I have actually missed two days in a row and had to double up two days.  'They' say as long as you don't miss three you are OK.  Once you've missed 3 you have to wait and start a new pack.

ETA; not that I would make habit of this... just trying to give you peace of mind :)

Also I tri-cycle having my period only every 3 months.  I say skip the reminders!!  The only reason we have reminder pills is because when pills first came out they didn't have them and people thought they weren't working since they didn't get their period so they added them in for peace of mind.

Well, doubling up wont do anything for you. If you miss one then skip it and take one the next day. And I don't think that missing one will do anything. But I got preg with DS while on the pill (took it religiously too) and so that is why I got an IUD this time around!

But if you are really worried about it then do what PP said and get Plan B. GL!!

The instructions on my pills say that if you miss one, take two the next time.  I'll listen to that thank you.

OP, even the instructions on the pills (at least the ones I use!) say that if you miss a day you don't need to use backup contraception, so I wouldn't worry about it!  Look at the instructions on yours if you're concerned; they'll tell you what to do and if you should be worried.
