What kind of bra do you wear?  Underwire or not?

I've been pumping for nearly 8 months and let's just say my girls are in need of some help.  I know it's preferred that you wear a bra without underwires to prevent clogged ducts, but underwire does me a world of good.

But I need a better bra.  Today my bra fit when I left home because I was empty, but 3 hours later I was overflowing.

And just so you can laugh with me....I wore a dress to work today.  I'm sitting at my desk pumping in my hands-free bra, tights and boots.

  • I couldnt use underwire the whole time I pumped - it was so uncomfortable to me.  I was one of those whoes ladies hurt through my whole pregnancy and beyond! I couldnt even stand touching them! So I was practically national geographic everywhere I've been for the last 7 months of pumping.  I found a tighter fitting nursing bra with no underwire at Target that I would use to "dress up" and other than that I used Motherhood Maternity sleep bras (the cross over kind) I loved them and my other solution was to wear tighter tops to control the jiggles some - but of course sometimes my nipple pads would show through - thank goodness my office is freezing all the time so I could wear big sweaters to work.  I occasionally tried to wear my underwire fancy nursing bras but not only were they uncomfortable for me - I noticed a decrease in my already low supply.  I let them hang loose!

  • I too now need more support than the nursing tanks provide, but the underwire bras (that I previously only wore) hurt so much. And if I try to wear one, I end up with clogged ducts.

  • I'm getting fitted for nice bras when I go to my parents for Thanksgiving.  They have a store called MilkWorks and they sell all kids of nursing stuff.  I'm excited.  Right now I have one crappy nursing bra and the rest are nursing tanks.  The tanks are great for casual wear, but I need some nicer bras for my new job.
