I'm new to the area and wanted feedback on the doctors at SG @ GBMC. My doctor in DC was amazing and we have a wonderful 7 month old baby girl b/c of her...but since we moved to Baltimore, we need to switch to a doctor up here. Any recommendations?
I used Dr. Katz at the GBMC/Bel Air office. He was okay (my husband liked him though). I was very happy with all the nurses and their services. I left for a second opinion and came back because of the nursing staff. I did not like my nurse at Rockville though. Please PM me if you have any questions. I was successful and 7 months pregnant.
I had Dr. Katz as well, when we were investigating our fertility options. I was a little put off by how many times he kept saying to us that we didn't have much time left because we were in our forties. We need to make this happen now because we're older. And on, and on. Yes, we know how old we are. Yes, we know that we need to do something about this now...that's the reason we're here in the first place (I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong that was making it difficult to get pregnant since we tried for a year and a half before getting our BFP in September).
Also, the financial person told us that all of our testing was covered by our insurance (UHC). Well, it's not. Because we're over 40. That little bit was missed and we got slapped with a $200 bill for DH's sperm analysis. Thank Heaven that was all we had done (we got pregnant shortly after that) or we might be in the poorhouse.
Having said that, I did like our nurse a lot. She was great to talk to and I felt very comfortable. Except for these two situations, I was fairly pleased with the clinic overall.
My primary doctor there was Dr. Yazigi, but I often saw Dr. Katz too. I had a very positive experience there. The doctors, nurses and staff were all very supportive and caring but straight forward too. That was very important to me. I never felt like they were blowing smoke or telling me just what I wanted to hear. I'm 34 weeks pregnant with a little guy thanks to them. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or PM me. Best of luck to you

Thanks so much for your info, ladies! I made an appt for Dr, Yanzigi as Dr Katz was booked up. From my experience in the DC office, I didn't even see my doctor that much, only to review and decide on protocol--I mainly dealt with the nurses, so I' m psyched that you all liked the staff there! Wish me luck :-)
Endrika Hinton is at GBMC and not affiliated with Shady Grove, if you want another option. Her bedside manner is a little off but she is excellent and always available.
Boy, reading all these posts makes me want to cry. A good cry. We used Dr. Yazigi and also saw Dr. Katz and Wendy Allen. They are great there. I have a 9 month old baby girl because of them. I also have friends that have a 9 month baby girl because of them. They are true miracle workers. Good luck!
