Boys Name Help!

I wanted to get opinions on the names King or Kingsley for a boy. Do you think these are strong names? My boyfriend wants to name him King if it is a boy, but I feel like its kind of conceited or that its a name they could end up getting made fun of for. Thoughts please and thank you!

Re: Boys Name Help!

  • Neither of them are something I'd pick.  I think I'd give the least side-eye to Kingsley, but it's still not something I really like.

  • Not a huge fan. When you said his first and last name, it would sound like you were addressing someone with a title: King Jones, eat your dinner. Weird. Would be like naming him Captain or Sergeant.

  • Maybe suggests names that are king-like in meaning instead of using the literal King.

There was a thread about this name yesterday but it means 'Greatest' or 'Great King'...Magnus.

    Good Luck!

  • Not a fan. I'm not sure what I'd think of a kid called King.

There are so many fine, strong names out there.

  • I had considered naming my son Kingston. I personally wasn't a fan of having people call him King so I passed. But if that's what you're looking for I like the name.

  • My dad's MN is King. I am not using it as a first or mn, but prefer as a mn. Kingley or kingston as a pp suggested are both OK.

  • Thanks ladies for all your help! My SO wanted a K name, and I agree with all of you that "King" is a bit sketchy, so we have since compromised and have decided on "Khale" if it is a boy! We are going to find out the sex the Saturday after Thanksgiving so its getting close. Big Smile
