NBR: Foodies, wwyd?

OK, DH went grocery shopping and I told him to buy the pork shoulder on sale. I s thinking about having pulled pork sandwiches on Sunday.  He bought a 9.95# pork shoulder roast, way too big to fit in my slow cooker.  Any suggestions about how to cook this bad boy?

  • Roast it low and slow in the oven!!! in a nice roasting pan.  I would also brine it first for at least 2 hours.

Sunny on the food network has a good brine recipe.

I always go to the Food network when I'm in doubt!!

  • Can you cut it into a couple of smaller pieces?  You could crockpot some Sunday and freeze some for later use.

DH says you should follow the lines of fat in the meat for butchering. You can find plenty of videos online, too.  Just search "butchering pork shoulder".

Or cook the whole thing in the oven and freeze the cooked meat for later use.
