Re: UO Thursday

  • I have a good opinion today.

I really like Lil Wayne's new song....How to Love??  I saw the video and it starts with a women leaving a hosptial where she was about to have an abortion.  The song was on the radio just now as I was on my way home from NST....its a good song.  I don't care for him...and I think he is pretty nasty, but this song is good.

Also I love LMFAO Sexy and I Know it!!  OMG ladies watch this video on youtube.  If I'm feeling sad etc....I just watch it and it puts a smile on my face.  P!nk  is in the video, Ron Jeremy and Fez from that 70's show.  I lmao every time I see it.

And that's pretty much how I feel about any posts where someone says they have done "research".  Wikipedia /=/ research.

  • I don't understand what is wrong with people who take public transit -look up from your iphone/ipad/nook/kindle every now and then and pay attention to your surroundings.  An elderly woman with a cane should NOT be standing.  And a 36-week pregnant woman shouldn't be the only person to stand up and offer said elderly lady her seat.  I have no problem standing when I'm not 36 weeks pregnant, but the jerky bus movements, constant starts/stops and huge hills aren't great for someone who doesn't have the best balance.

  • Every single Republican candidate scares the bejeezus out of me.  I'm terrified when they start to talk about women's reproductive rights - especially when they go so far as to want to ban contraception.  It would set women's rights back decades should such a thing happen and I don't know why more people aren't outraged as such a proposition.

I'm also all for what the Occupy Wall Street folks are doing, I just wish they would pick one really articulate, relatable spokesperson to dispel the notion that the protestors are a bunch of dirty hippies.

Amen sister!  F*CK PEOPLE WHO THINK GOOGLE IS RESEARCH!!!! Drives me crazy.  Then, when you confront these morons with ACTUAL research they say, "well in my opinion vaccines might cause autism."  THey think that as long as you call something your OPINION it's somehow valid.  The problem is, thinking vaccines cause autism is NOT an opinion.  It's a misunderstanding and disproven hypothesis.

"Blue is a nice color,"  THAT'S an opinion.  "Vaccines raise the risk of autism," is an incorrect statement.  Calling it an "opinion" doesn't make it valid in any way.  It just shows you know NOTHING about research, science or the meaning of the word opinion.

I personally would like to know more about this subject.  I don't really stay up on who's running and what they are saying unless it is a huge headline on the news.

Are these people just saying what they think people want to hear or are they serious.  Because I'm sorry if they ban contraception...the rate of back alley abortions is going to sky rocket also our population will too.

When people do this and they are sitting in the designated "handicap" spots (pregnant women and women with babies in arms are included in this)  I pick the youngest/most able looking one and ask them very pointedly to let me sit down.  It's not okay for me to have to stand on a jerky bus/metro ride and I just don't take it anymore.  People usually get kind of embarrassed and just give up the seat quietly.

Also, you can ask someone next to you to get up for an elderly woman.  I never would've thought of it, but once a woman on the metro who wasn't even sitting herself asked a sitting man if he'd get up so I could sit.  I was so grateful to her for being so ballsy!  I would do that next time you see that happen if I were you.

Because most people know that any candidate who takes that stance would stand a slim-to-none chance of ever being elected into public office, and even if they did, would never be able to get such a ban passed. Anyone who gets worked up about it is just feeding into the hype and drama that those ridiculous candidates like to create by coming up with these numskull stances on hot button topics.

My UO is that I hate John Mayer music. Not just because he's an a-hole, but because his music is crap.

I normally stare down whoever looks most able and they take the hint and offer me a seat.  The elderly woman last week with a cane didn't want me to stand, but I couldn't let her stand.  So she poked a young girl on her ipad with her cane and told her to stand up, which made me laugh.

I'm just more surprised that everyone hides behind their technology and uses it as an excuse to not have manners.

For the record, I have no problem standing when I'm not pregnant.

  • My UO is that it really bothers me when the girls on the board say they want their baby out asap or that they don't want a c-section because they don't want to deal with the surgery. IMO, if a c-section is best for my baby, you better believe i wouldn't even hesitate to get one.  and i think it's very selfish to wish you baby to come early when in our bellies is the best place for them right now, even if we are insanely uncomfortable.

I empathize with the uncomfortableness we are all going through, the sickness (still), the hip pain, the BH, etc... but i just feel that we accepted this challenge, and we should see it through since it's the best for our babies at this point. and if our Dr's felt it was better for them to be on the outside world, then they'd schedule that.

  • Until Occupy Wall Street has definitive goals, I won't have an opinion on whether I support the movement or not.  But if what some of my facebook friends are posting that support the movement is true, I will not be supporting the movement.  As my husband, who works on Wall Street, says, if they want to make a statement, maybe they should show up at 5-6am when I'm arriving at work instead of 10am after I have already put in 4-5 hours of my 12 hour work day.

I'm not saying that I fear that they'd be able to pass such laws, I'm saying that I'm fearful that candidates are using that kind of rhetoric to try to appeal to a mass audience.  Even Pat Robertson was saying the candidates need to tone down their conservative agenda - Pat Robertson! - because that could be a endanger their chance of having an actual shot at the presidency.

I also hate John Mayer by the way - because his music sucks, and because he's a huge douche.

There is nothing wrong with simply wanting your baby to come early because you are uncomfortable. Wanting it isn't going to make it happen. And there is also nothing wrong with wanting to avoid surgery if possible. I haven't seen anyone on here say "My doctor says my baby will die if I don't have a c-section but I'm not going to because I don't want surgery" Alot of times it's kind of up in the air whether c-section is necessary or not (obviously not always). But again there is nothing wrong with wanting something. I'm sure we all want things that could be considered selfish.

That's hilarious that she poked someone with her cane!

I too have no problem standing when not pregnant, but now that I have terrible balance it's just not a good idea.

I agree, it's annoying the way people will so blatantly hide behind technology/books or even just look the other direction when there is someone who deserves a seat.  Pisses me off!
