Stupid Babywearing ? re Cold

Warning - stupid question ahead:

My daughter and I commute home (via subway, bus and walk) with her in the Ergo.  When she's in the Ergo, her pants sort of ride up, exposing her ankles.  Now that it's starting to get cold out, I'm worried about her getting too cold this way.  I've tried tucking her pants into her socks, but that isn't working.

Any obvious ideas I'm missing to keep her ankles/lower legs warm?  Thanks!

  • Baby legs or other leggings work great for this.

  • Tights under the pants, knee socks, or babylegs.

  • I do a couple things:

    1.  Socks that go up to mid-calf.  Even if it doesn't completely cover up the skin, it definitely limits the amount exposed.

    2.  Pants that are too long (we have a couple 12mo size that are a little big, but perfect for baby-wearing).

    3.  Wear a jacket or sweatshirt overtop both of you and make sure her legs are covered.

Baby-legs would probably also work, but we don't have any.

  • I had a couple of favorite "baby-wearing friendly" outfits that DD wore last year when she was itty bitty and it was cold. My very fave was from the Gap, it was a velour one-piece that was footed and had a hood. Any sort of footed outfits will prevent the pants from riding up, and the hood was an added bonus.

  • I didn't even think of baby legs.  Thanks for all of the good suggestions!
