Ok, it's been like over a month since my D&C and I got a bill yesterday from the ultrasound place that I had to go to the morning of the D&C. I put it aside and forgot about it until I sat down just now to do my bills and it hit me.
Seriously. I almost want to write on the return bill "Thanks for reminding me of the worst day of my life and thanks for making me pay for it."
There should be a law passed that NO WOMAN SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS KIND OF THING!!!!
Re: M/Cs and PLs should not have to pay medical bills
I wholeheartedly agree. When I was pregnant, the OB's office gave me the breakdown for my insurance coverage after we had heard the HB. The D&C I had to have cost me exactly $100 less than an in-hospital vaginal delivery would have. I wanted to write the insurance company a nasty letter and let them know that for the additional $100 I would have gladly preferred to have a baby to take home. Bills like that should be written off in my opinion. Sorry you're having to deal with it. (((Hugs)))

Wouldn't that be fab? We have an 80/20 plan so I'm dreading the upcoming bills.

I just got my bill the other day. Thankfully, it was miniscule because we have good insurance. My wonderful doctor billed it as "miscarriage support and assistance" when in reality it was a D+E. However, his description was much truer. He totally undercharged too, considering I had anesthesia and OR time. I don't have a bill from the hospital yet, but I just thought, "I love my doctor!"
ETA: I totally get what you're saying about not needing a reminder of that horrible day in our lives, but in my case, I feel like my doctor earned every penny that day. I don't know what I would have done without him.
