Success after IF

What has motherhood taught you...

about yourself?

It took over four years to be diagnosed with PCOS. We TTC #1 for 18 months, did 5 rounds of Clomid and finally moved onto IVF...which worked! Throughout our IF journey, we suffered 3 miscarriages. We conceived both DD and DS without treatment.

  • I have learned in the short time I have been a mother I have learned how patient I can be.  DH gets so fired up when our son cries and for me I just go to him and calm him down and it brings me such peace.

I have learned how strong and how empowered I feel.   I LOVE being a mother, I feel (and this sounds so silly) like this was my true purpose in life.  I just feel so complete.  I do not know if it because I felt so empty dealing with IF, but I am so at peace with life.

I have learned to slow down and enjoy each and every second of everyday and to love with every fiber of my being.

  • To slow down.

To minimize the amt of "stuff" or commitments I take on.

To let the silly unimportant stuff go...perspective...what's really important?

Focus on ds and make his life as happy and fun as it can be.

  • How much I am like my mother!  Haha...

  • That I can't do it ALL (i.e I can't be a supermom.....), that working full time really isn't the right path for me, that seeing DS is the BEST feeling in the world, and that my love for DS is indescribable

  • I agree with the comments - don't try to be supermom.  I have way too high expectations of myself.  And on a humor side - I learned never to expect a hot cup of coffee or non-mushy cereal ever again.
  • I've learned to be organized and pick up the house as I go because there's not going to be time later.

I've learned to just plan meals instead of wasting time figuring out what to eat and then not having the groceries. One trip to the store and five different options for the week works best for us.

I've learned that I really CAN survive and function without as much sleep as I thought I needed.

I've learned that if my limits are pushed I can usually rise (somehow) to the challenge without cracking.

I've learned that things always seem worse when you're tired and I try to keep that in perspective.

I've learned to slow down and take the time just to watch my daughter play. The housework can wait. She won't. She's growing so quickly.

I've learned that every mom's experience and situations are different so different things will work for different kids. There's not a blanket fix that's going to work for every child.

I've learned that... Parents that think they know it all rarely do. :)

  • Ha! I just blogged about this last night (see latest link)

I think it's taught me more patience and less procrastination.

  • That I can't do it all myself and that asking for help does not mean I am a bad mother.
