Hi Ladies, I'm less then a week away from my 2nd trimester. I've read that you are less tired in the second trimester. Is there any truth to this? Thanks!
If I'm being honest, I'm just as tired now. Maybe even more. It's rare that I'm up past ten. I have tons of aches and pains and my body loves my bed so I like to spend time in it lol. Not to mention I get up easily 8-10 times a night now.
Ehhh.... It's not an instant thing. I'm at 17 1/2 weeks and just started feeling more energy in the past week.
This. I was really hoping for an "instant change" once I hit the second trimester. My experience has not been anything like that - don't expect it to be a sudden, overnight change, because it will most likely be a slow one. I am 15 1/2 weeks and I am feeling a little better every day! Now if this darn lower back pain would quit...
My energy level went up at around 19 week and stayed that way for like 3-4 weeks. That being said, it's still not the same energy you have being non-pregnant. Now I'm back down. I think it's because the aches and pains make it SEEM worse even if it isn't.
However, some girls are feeling great still, so you could be one of the lucky ones. Keep your head up and try not to think about it too much!
yes, definitely. i have way more energy and take fewer naps overall. although, now that i'm almost in my third trimester, i notice i'm starting to slow down again some days.
BFP #1: 1/27/11, mc 3/17/11 at 9w2d, baby measured at 8w3d, no heartbeat
BFP #2: 5/13/11; beta #1: 382, beta #2: 7842.
heartbeat: 103 at 6 weeks; 146 at 7 weeks, 165 at 9 weeks, 173 at 12 weeks, 158 at 16 weeks.
I definitely have more energy throughout the day than I did in 1st Trimester. I had days in the 1st Tri where I was struggling to keep my eyes open on the drive home from work. Even days where I thought about napping AT work. Now I can wake up at 630 (or earlier because I dont sleep well any more) and go through the whole day without needing a nap. I do get really tired around 9pm though. I can't last much longer than that.
In my experience it doesn't happen instantly. At about 15-16 weeks I was able to function better and it keeps getting better. In my first trimester, I was in bed most nights by 8 and I felt like a zombie. Like I was just a shell of my former self. If I was able, I probably would have napped every day around 2pm. Now, I feel like a completely different person than the first trimester. I feel human again. I can last an through a hockey game. I can stay up past 8pm, though 930 usually is it for me. I can do things other than sit on the couch. I have actually had the energy to walk my dogs every day (we have a big yard they run in otherwise). It has been amazing. I also have extra energy because I'm finally able to feel my little one, and it makes me really happy that she's letting me know she's there.
I actually feel really good now. In fact, I feel like I did pre-pregnancy, with the addition of kicks from my little boy, which I love love love. Like the other ladies who posted before me, it was a gradual thing. I felt a little better at 15 weeks, and gradually felt more and more normal until about 19 weeks, when I was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief! I had morning sickness in first tri, too. I actually never threw up, but I was so nauseated I wished I could, just to see if I would feel better. Nothing helped. Not zofran, phenergan, ginger, sea bands, vitamin B6, nothing except for maybe forcing myself to eat crackers every two hours. Now, I feel great. I am even on night shift this month, and I feel like as long as I get enough sleep I'm good. I was on nights from weeks 8 to 12 and I felt like I was going to die every day. It sucked.
So, hang in there, mama. Things could be looking up before you know it.
